Hangry? Your dog just might be.
Happy Friday! You’ve made it to the end of the week and tomorrow you get to enjoy National Dog Day! We found this doggone hilarious video and wanted to share it with you. It’s soooo relatable.
Ever had this exact same situation happen to you? You’ve had a long day, you’re settling into your hard-earned meal, and then suddenly your puppy is right next to you, begging with his or her best puppy-dog eyes for scraps. It’s like doggos have a sixth sense and can tell exactly when you’re getting food.

It might seem a little strange, but there might actually be a reason for this kind of behavior. We at Digital Doggy investigated a little further and figured out why our pups seem to want human food all the time.
- Your Pup is A Glutton
It’s true. Some pups just loooove food. They pick up any scraps they can get, even sometimes things on the floor that aren’t even edible (Shoes aren’t chew toys!) ! Pups like this are just like babies. They want to put everything in their mouths and they do! Dogs like this are typically used to receiving lots of treats and scraps from the table and have an expectation when dinner time rolls around. This type of behavior is usually encouraged by pet owners who routinely feed their dogs food from the table and give their pups too many treats. If this sounds like you, try toning it down a bit and only give your dog scraps after you’ve eaten, and if they’ve been good. Make sure that when you’re eating, they know that they’re not allowed to interrupt your meal by begging. It’s important to train your dog to have table manners too!
- Not Eating Enough
On the others side of things, maybe your puppy isn’t eating enough or getting enough food. Different sizes of dogs require different servings of food, and as pups grow up, they’ll require more food. It’s also important to keep a note of your own lifestyle changes. If you’re getting more into fitness and taking your dog out for longer walks or jogs, then your pup is going to be burning more energy too. They might need some extra food for to go that extra mile.
- Medical Problem
Dogs are just like people, and are susceptible to problems like diabetes or hyperthyroidism. But don’t worry, most health-related issues with food are easily solved by changing your dog’s diet. The good thing is a trip to the vet will tell you exactly how to adjust your dog’s diet with multivitamins or medication. Or you might want to change the brand of dog food you buy, or experiment with wet food, if you’re currently giving your dog dry food.
