I think it’s pretty obvious how much we love dogs here at Digital Doggy. We write about dogs, take photos of dogs, Instagram dogs, and we all own them—lots of them. We love dogs, and it can be a little much at times, sure. What’s really too much though?

There have been studies conducted all over the globe as to why humans love dogs and why dogs love humans. Researchers and scientists have come up with many theories, some wonderful, some far fetched (no pun intended) but there’s something special about the bond between a dog and a human and research will never know why. It’s just a feeling. As I’ve said in many of my previous posts, dogs are furry little angels put on this earth to bring happiness to everyone and that’s not even one of the reasons why dogs make great best friends. Here’s why:
- Dogs Really Care About You
Our friends can be flakey. They don’t always show up on time, drink all the beer, steal your food and pass out drunk on your couch without asking and that’s not even the worst thing. Dogs really care about your feelings. Their life purpose is to make you happy, give you love and protect you. I have some pretty amazing friends but I wouldn’t say their life purpose even mentions me once.
- Dogs Are Always Down To Cuddle
Many of my friends know how much I like to cuddle. I will cuddle with almost anyone, honestly. That’s why dogs are amazing. They will literally cuddle in your bed all day long, until someone has to go to the bathroom. Then you guys can go to the bathroom quickly, and then jump right back to the cuddling. Dogs cure hangovers, heartbreaks and colds.
- Dogs Make Home Feel Safer
Have you ever lived alone? I mean, completely alone. Without a pet or a roommate? It’s really frightening, especially for a woman. A dog is the perfect alarm system for those who can’t afford it. A dog will bark at a doorknob jiggle or a harmless stranger blowing leaves outside in the early hours of the morning. Your dog is a personal bodyguard and it feels pretty great.
- Your Dog Just Gets You
You don’t have to hide your weird self around your dog. Your dog knows you’re a total weirdo and he/she is totally into it. Your dog just wants to be around you. Even if that means you want to walk around the house naked the entire day eating peanut butter directly out of the jar. Your dog thinks that’s cool and that’s best friend material right there.
- Your Dog Will Always Be a Great Shoulder To Cry On
Literally cry on your dogs shoulder, they will love every second of it. As many of you know, dogs are often great stress relievers and anxiety reducers. If you’re having a hard day, go ahead and cry on your four-legged friend. You two are going through this together. You never have to feel alone if your dog is with you.
Dogs, they’re the best.
