Local Texas residents were frightened and shocked when they noticed a stray dog wandering lost in the streets with an enormous, plastic jar stuck completely on a dog’s head. Although it was a scary sight to see, it was also humorous for many.
Quickly after the Texas neighbors spotted this helpless dog, they contacted the Fort Worth Animal Control. The residents noticed the dog had been wandering around for the last 3 days. The dog, named Pickle, was almost impossible to catch because he didn’t want anyone to touch him due to being completely frightened and confused.

The plastic jar was originally used to hold cheese balls, (the round Cheeto like snacks) and so Pickle probably sniffed around the inside of the jar for remaining crumbs and leftover pieces.
“When they called us they said the dog was laying down at this point,” said Randall Mize, an animal control worker, about the dog’s condition. But they were able to pull the plastic container off of is head.
“It’s actually one of those cheese ball containers,” said Mize.
After much deliberation, animal control workers estimated the plastic container was on Pickle’s head for around three days. After only a matter of minutes the plastic jar came off and Pickle was free!
“Pickle was – and still is – very scared, so officers actually had to sneak up on him,” Diane Covey, public information officer with the city of Fort Worth, told The Dodo.
The officers took him back to the animal shelter to get additional care. They treated him for dehydration and neck pain. The community and Animal control is looking for a person to take Pickle home. He needs to find a forever home just like everyone else.
Yes, Pickle was extremely dehydrated and had a few cuts and scrapes, but he was overall in great condition. Poor Pickle is still incredibly terrified and confused of everything and every human but in time he should relax and trust humans are here to help!
“He’s not aggressive and we can tell he loves people,” Covey said. “Staff are taking it one day at a time with him as everyone has said he was traumatized by the incident. He’s getting spoiled though, as staff at the shelter are even hand-feeding him with canned dog food!”
Pickle may be a dog a little too obsessed with food but he is special just like every other precious dog. He needs a little tender love and care and a place to lie his head at night that’s not in an animal shelter. So, can you adopt Pickle? If so, make sure you don’t leave any jars of cheese balls lying around; otherwise Pickle might be in another predicament. Although, I’m sure he won’t go anywhere near those again.
Remember; make sure to always dispose of trash properly, recycle and if you keep snacks around the house, always make sure to put them away. Your dog could eat something unhealthy or toxic! Or your dog could get a plastic jar stuck on his head! Yikes!
