A dog originally bred for consumption, Kenji, was rescued from South Korea and brought to the States. Kenji didn’t particularly like other dogs he came into contact with after his rescue. It’s possible this canine had just seen enough in his lifetime at the meat farm. But that all changed when Kenji was reunited with Sophia, his former mate who had bared his puppies. This dog was completely filled with joy!
“He’s the sweetest dog,” Goldstein had gushed. “He’s so calm and affectionate, and loves attention and belly rubs. When he’s excited he lets us know with his deep howls.”
Kenji easily adjusted to life in his new home and truly loved his new family, but it seemed as though he just wasn’t meant to be around other dogs. Goldstein and her family knew about Sophia, his former mate, who had been adopted by another family.
The pair hadn’t seen each other since their time in South Korea, but Goldstein tracked down Sophia’s family and coordinated a reunion.
No one was sure if Sophia and Kenji would remember each other, but as soon as the pair locked eyes it was clear to see that not only did they remember one another, but that love they shared for one another was still there.
“When he saw Sophia, it was obvious they remembered and loved each other,” Goldstein explained. “He’s not great with other dogs but it was clear he loved Sophia! He had more energy than ever that day and loved running around the yard with her.”
These two dogs were over the moon to be together! Plenty of cuddling, chasing, and jumping ensued.
We hope this doggy reunion won’t be their last! Kenji may even get along with other dogs better after having such a great time with Sophia.
