If we modeled our days after our dogs, life would be more joyful. It’s that simple. We would wake up early with all the energy in the world, ready to take on the day. We would scarf down our breakfast without once thinking about calories or a “balanced diet” or our ever-expanding waistline. We would enthusiastically greet every person we passed, making at least fifteen friends on our way to work. If our butt itched in the office, we’d go for it! If our coworker came over to say hi, we’d drop everything. Even if our boss scolded us for taking off early on Friday or pooping in the conference room, we would feel a healthy amount of guilt for all of five minutes, then fully move on with our day without looking back. When passing the local pool on the way home from work, we would take a running start and cannonball in, fully clothed. When our best friend shows up at 8 o’clock when we had made plans for 7, we wouldn’t even notice because we’d be so excited to see them. And after such an energetic, exhausting day, we would never have trouble falling asleep. So friends – chow down. Say hi to strangers. Scratch that itchy butt. Be excited to see a friend. Live life like a dog.
