Eli the German Shepherd may be only 7 months old, but he has lived a very full life! He was born with a rare condition that didn’t allow him to eat solid foods. In fact, he had to be fed liquids through a syringe every 2 hours. His owners finally gave up and were ready to give Eli to a shelter when a vet technician stepped in to adopt him. Little did Savannah Amberson know, she was saving Eli’s little life. Savannah spent months going through surgeries and various procedures with Eli to try to fix his problem, but nothing seemed to be working. His bones were becoming so brittle that he broke his leg from a little fall. Savannah was at a loss, but knew she couldn’t turn away from Eli’s sweet puppy dog eyes. So she turned to the dog community. Not only did they pitch in for Eli’s medical bills, but one man even built a special “doggie high chair” for Eli so that the force of gravity could help him digest food like normal pups. Sure enough…it worked! Now Eli is strong, healthy and able to play at the dog park with all the other puppies. Eli’s story is proof that dog people truly are the best people in the world.
