They can clear out a room full of people. They make babies cry and adults faint. They make old people die on the spot! They’re nasty, they’re deadly, they’re DOG FARTS. It’s no mystery that dog farts are the absolute worst smelling phenomenon of all time. But it is a mystery why. So let’s take a deep, deep look at canine flatulence today and get to the bottom (no pun intended) of this issue.

The first and perhaps most obvious reason for smelly dog farts is that dogs will and do eat anything. If we were to eat half of the random shit our dogs eat on a daily basis, our farts wouldn’t be quite so pleasant either! Additionally, all dogs and cats are lactose intolerant. Any table food our dogs eat that contains lactose (whether or not we intend for them to eat it) will upset their stomachs and result in — you guessed it — toots galore!

Surprisingly, the number one reason our dogs are gassy is because they swallow too much air. What goes in must come out! However, if your pup is pooting uncontrollably and constantly you should take it to see the vet. There may be a gastrointestinal issue at hand — or at butt.
