There’s nothing quite as fun as dressing your dog in human clothes. Halloween costumes, Christmas sweaters and sunglasses are by far the most fun, but even bandanas are entertaining. But do dogs hate it? The answer of course is yes. Dogs hate wearing human clothes and they hate you for making them do it. Here’s a list of clothes they REALLY hate to wear:
- Shoes or socks
If you put a pair of shoes or socks on a dog they immediately look like weird alien creatures. It’s almost like they don’t know how to move their legs any longer. If you do this to your pup, they will not like you.
Dogs in sunglasses are pretty darn cute but it’s not cute to them. They want them off their head and far away. Try putting sunglasses on a dog for longer than 4 seconds. It’s a real challenge.
Dogs want to run, jump and play outside. Pants prevent this from happening. I know it’s the cutest thing in the world but don’t do it. Pants are meant for people, not pups.
I know hats make everyone look incredibly stylish but dogs don’t care about style. They care about food, sleep and playtime. Take the hat off or prepare for your dog to secretly resent you forever.
I know this isn’t clothing but it’s close enough. Have you ever seen a dog wearing mascara or lipstick? It’s quite amusing but not to them. Not to mention if they ingest the makeup it could be bad for them.
Unless it’s really cold outside or you own a shivering Chihuahua, sweaters are not recommended. Most dogs have a thick layer of fur and don’t need any additional warmth. The only time it’s necessary is in the dead of winter and they visibly look cold.
This is a given. Don’t put your dog in a tutu. Just don’t do it. It’s uncomfortable for them and embarrassing for you.
Now go home and take off that silly dog clothing and tell your dog you’re sorry. Your dog might forgive you.
