In Los Angeles we don’t really have to worry about this because every single dog is a service dog and they’re allowed everywhere. Even my next-door neighbor’s blind Pomeranian is a service dog. True story. If you’re like me and your dog is not allowed in stores then think about these tips before you tether your dog outside:
You never know who could be lurking around out there. Someone could swipe your doggie in an instant. Watch out!
- Your dog could bark uncontrollably and annoy everyone
Yes, this has happened to me and yes people were annoyed.
- Your dog could squeeze out of its collar and run away
That would not be good
- Your dog could bite someone
People think, “Oh if they leave their dog outside it must be nice. I’m gonna go pet it.” Boom. You got a lawsuit on your hands.
- Your dog could get in a fight with another dog
When a dog is panicked it can do things unexpected. Like bite another dog or pee all over the fresh produce outside.
So the next time you need to run errands, remember it’s safer and all around more enjoyable for your dog to stay at home.
